Welcome to SurvivorNet

SurvivorNet is a non-profit organisation that serves survivors and supporters of survivors of all types of abuse with a special emphisis on survivors of sexual abuse and incest. Founded in early 1990 by Anthony M. Saffer, SurvivorNet has grown from a small, regional, organisation to one with over 1000 members worldwide. Our primary goal is to provide free or low cost services to survivors of abuse in an enviroment that is free from stress and judgement. Our basic philosophy is that the effects of your abuse will not be minimized 'because it happened only once' and that ANY sexual contact between an adult and child, no matter how infrequent, is damaging and will effect the person as an adult. We feel that that adult has as much a right to heal as does someone who was repeatedly abused over a longer period of time. It should also be noted that this is not an offender recovery group. While we understand that offenders need and often desire therapy and that they also must go through their own healing process, our first committment is to our members. So while we wish offenders the best of luck in their journey, we regret that we cannot extend membership to known offenders at this time. If this appears cliqueish, we apologise, but again, our first commitment IS to our members. All else is secondary.
